Who says intelligent people have to suffer boring lives? Not Tudor Cisu.

While the academe takes a huge cut in his life, it is certainly not the only aspect he is good with. True, his IQ is high enough to earn him distinctions, awards and scholarships in high school and double majors in Biochemistry and Mathematics, but he also has a clear understanding of what makes a well-rounded character.

Case in point: He has great people skills which he honed through constant interaction with people from all walks of life. For years, he spent his summer vacation at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center as a volunteer transporter. He was also a math and reading tutor for Kumon Math and Reading Center. His experience in retail industry also contributes a great deal in his capacity to work with other people. In fact, while he may produce great works by himself, he prefers to work in collaboration with others. This, he believes, to be of key importance in accomplishing successful projects.

Acquisition of practical skills is also one of the things that keep Tudor Cisu preoccupied. At a young age of 19, he already acquired different levels of proficiency in 6 languages, competency in sports like Frisbee and table tennis, and skills in solving the Rubik’s cube.

Although Tudor Cisu is regarded as a character of intellect, a closer examination will reveal a person who went the extra mile to form a well-balanced personality.

This is true especially in the case of Tudor Cisu who spends part of his time doing things that would be of convenience to other people.

Most of the time, Tudor Cisu helps high school students to obtain their much coveted scholarship by instructing them on how to effectively pass the PSAT/SAT exams. Also, he was a Math and Reading tutor and has aided numerous students improve their number and words. However, this all pale to the fact that Tudor Cisu is a volunteer transporter at the local hospital for the past four summers. Although, it is only a small act, this changed the lives of countless people who relied on transporters to get to their medical appointments on time.

For 19 year old whiz kid, Tudor Cisu, learning languages is an integral part of achieving a degree in medicine. The sophomore from Binghamton University in New York State considers both English and Romanian as his native tongues but has been studying Latin for several years now.

While most teenagers would shy away from learning a dead language, Tudor Cisu realized early on that Latin would be very useful in understanding medical terms. In 2004, he bagged the Silver Medal in the National Latin Exam, before going on to achieve a perfect score in 2005 and a Gold Medal in 2006. His knowledge of Latin has also allowed him to pick up Romance languages such as Spanish, French and Italian.

Tudor Cisu’s insatiable desire to acquire skills which could prove useful for his future as a physician scientist have also prompted him to learn programming languages such as Visual Basic, Java, and C++.
